Use this task guide when a project was changed in the wrong way and you need a safe rollback path.

## Recover a Single File

1. Open version history for the project or file.
2. Compare the current file with an earlier version.
3. Restore the older version if the change is clearly incorrect.

## Recover a Larger Project State

1. Open the snapshot or labeled-history workflow.
2. Find the last stable milestone.
3. Restore that checkpoint if multiple files were affected.

## Good Times to Create a Snapshot

* before a large AI-assisted rewrite
* before pulling major GitHub changes
* before restructuring a long document
* before collaborative review rounds

## Best Practice

Use history for recovery, not as a substitute for formal approval workflows.
